Comics with Cameras has added another short to the already unthinkably magnificent line-up (see below).

It's a parody of the trailer for "An Inconvenient Truth" called "A Straight Truth" and it's just great! The filmmakers are also pretty notable:

Jonathan Schmock: has written, directed or produced everything from Dharma and Greg, My Wife and Kids and Blossom to Sabrina the Teenage Witch and the Lot! He also has a few acting credits that will make you go, "Hey! I love that guy!"

Claudia Lonow: Has acted as producer or executive producer on many actual television shows including The War at Home and Less Than Perfect as well as numerous acting roles.

To celebrate the release of our first joke book, “National Lampoon’s Jokes, Jokes, Jokes: Collegiate Edition,” we will be screening writer Steve Ochs’ short, “Le Petomane: Parti Avec le Vent” as part of our first ever “Comics with Cameras.” The evening will feature off-beat shorts, trailers and even offer-beat live guests parade across the stage like just a night at your favorite comedy club.

Comics with Cameras will be happening November 2nd and 6th, 2006 at the M Bar in Hollywood.
Doors open at 7:00pm. The first 10 people in the door will receive a free copy of Steve Ochs' book "National Lampoon's Jokes Jokes Jokes; Collegiate Edition"!

Headliner:
"Le Petomane: Parti Avec le Vent" (33 minutes)
Starring Ben Wise, Kevin Scott Allen, Aimee Miles.
Created by over 300 people, this is a full-blown, full-costume, turn-of-the-century historical period piece shot at Universal Studios and the historic Tower Theater. A "serious" drama based on the true story of Le Petomane, who became the highest paid entertainer at the Moulin Rouge over 100 years ago. The man, his bizarre talent and his life has inspired Johnny Depp to repeatedly proclaim to the press, "I’d play him in a minute!" With its sweeping score and beautiful sets and costumes, Le Petomane is unrepentantly old Hollywood but with a very special twist. Writer/director Steve Ochs will be on hand to answer for himself and apologize if necessary

Danny Bevins, John Bizarre, Sarah Tiana John Bizarre takes his camera along for a trip into the danger zone as one of the “Comics on Duty” touring bases in Afghanistan, Kuwait and Iraq. A comic from the film will join us for Q and A. We don’t care which one, they’re all heroes.

Guest Set:
A Man and a Woman (3½ minutes)
Robotic Cast Brian McKim and Traci Skene can now add “filmmakers” to their varied list of job titles. As touring comics and editors of Sheckmagazine.com, the go-to source for all things stand up on the web, the pair is pretty much the dynamic duo of comedy. “A Man and a Woman” is a surprisingly insightful short film that, through minimalism and precision clockwork technology, explains the age-old dynamic between the sexes. Dr. Anton Keener will be on hand discuss his book, “A Man and a Woman; Text, Subtext and Even Subber Subtext, “written to help unravel the intricacies of the film.

Middle Act:
Ralph the Roadie (one episode, 6 minutes) Starring Chris Bonno, Bowling for Soup. We will screen one episode director Peter Byck’s popular internet/podcast series “Ralph the Roadie” which follows the misadventures of an inept rock and roll roadie whose ambition far outdistances his competence, strength or skill set. We may get a visit from Ralph if he can find the place.

Guest Set:

“Comedy Hell” (trailer 4 ½ minutes) Starring: Rick Overton, Eric Roberts, Marty Rackham, Brian Dunckleman, Michael DeLouis. "Comedy Hell" is the story of three stand up comics go on a gig to Big Bear, CA that turns out to be a real “hell gig!” They cross a serial killer named Wayne who kills devil worshippers and other blasphemers (i.e. stand up comics). The comics do what comics do… befriend the local sheriff who has deep dark secrets, party with the waitresses and kill onstage. Wayne shows them what killing is all about when he turns anyone who doesn’t believe as he does into “angels” and sends them back to his savior. Writer/director/comic Scott La Rose will join us… alive.

HOST/MC:
Biography – (7½ minutes) David Juskow, Peter Graves, Dave Attell
David Juskow has been performing comedy in all of its myriad forms since childhood. His past is legend, his present is the stuff of dreams and his future defies prognostication. "Comics with Cameras" is gratefully blessed to have him applying his interviewer and hosting skills to this event.

Doors open at 7:00 pm. Your name will be on the Goldstar list at the door. Please present your ID and mention Goldstar. First ten people through the door each night will receive a copy of "National Lampoon’s Jokes, Jokes, Jokes,: Collegiate Edition." If you arrange dinner reservations, please let the door person know that you are from Goldstar and have dinner reservations.

About M Bar & Restaurant:
According to owner-actor Joe Reynolds, the "M" stands for music, martinis and mangia (Italian for "eat"). Enter through red velvet drapes to find a speakeasy-like interior dripping in dramatic red, from the vinyl booths to the server's micro-miniskirt. The crowd is eclectic and the mood is bohemian--low lighting, high artistic vibe.
